In March 1986, Chet Baker made his miraculous first tour of Japan. Now, the live recording from the third day of that tour, held at Shibuya PARCO Theater in Tokyo, is unexpectedly being released officially on CD. ''Live in Japan - 1986 Sendai,'' released in 2025 and capturing the Sendai performance held on March 18, drew a major response. This new release features audio from the previous day, March 17, recorded on the third day of the concerts held at Shibuya PARCO Theater. On the first day of the Tokyo shows on March 15, Chet was not in good condition, moving on and off the stage, with the piano trio performing for much of the set, which led to a poor reception. By the third day, however, his condition had recovered, and he captivated the Tokyo audience with lively playing. Four tracks recorded for a live broadcast finally see the light of day after 40 years.
