Label: Victor Entertainment [4988002956661]

RELEASE DATE: December 18, 2026

Description:

The collection brings together some of the most important figures in Japanese pop and rock who have close ties to Ann Lewis, including Ginji Ito, Eiichi Ohtaki, Jun Sato, Kenji Sawada, Mariya Takeuchi, Shinji Nishi of Spectrum, NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa and Toshio Kihara), Norio Maeda, Masataka Matsutoya, Momoe Yamaguchi, Tatsuro Yamashita, Reiko Yukawa, and Minako Yoshida. The box features 7-inch singles with newly created pairings that have never been released before. In addition, the Eiichi Ohtaki-penned single that was previously issued only as a promotional release will receive its first official commercial release.

Ann Lewis, who worked across a broad range of styles from pop to Kayou Rock, celebrates the 55th anniversary of her debut this year. More than a decade has passed since she announced her retirement in 2013, yet her songs have never faded and continue to be heard and loved by a wide audience. To commemorate her 55th anniversary, this special analog box set, "Ann Lewis Emerald Collection - 7-inch Vinyl Box," supervised by Ann herself, will be released.

The name "Emerald" was chosen by Ann herself, inspired by the tradition of giving emeralds for a 55th wedding anniversary. Emeralds are also associated with meanings such as true love, growth, and wisdom, adding a special message from Ann Lewis as she reaches her 55th anniversary. The entire package is unified in an emerald color scheme.

Her signature songs have been newly paired and released as singles. While the collection includes major hits, each pairing has also been carefully chosen to bring together songs with strong connections to one another, making this an irresistible release not only for longtime fans. Important figures in Japanese pop and rock with close ties to Ann Lewis, including Ginji Ito, Eiichi Ohtaki, Jun Sato, Kenji Sawada, Mariya Takeuchi, Shinji Nishi of Spectrum, NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa and Toshio Kihara), Norio Maeda, Masataka Matsutoya, Momoe Yamaguchi, Tatsuro Yamashita, Reiko Yukawa, and Minako Yoshida, all played key roles in shaping these recordings. Another major highlight is the inclusion of the rare Eiichi Ohtaki-related 7-inch that had previously existed only as a promotional release.

DISC 1 pairs "Roppongi Shinju" and "Aa Mujou," two landmark Kayou Rock songs created by the golden team of Reiko Yukawa and NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa and Toshio Kihara).

DISC 2 pairs "La Saison," the comeback single with lyrics written for Ann by the already-retired Momoe Miura, with "I Love You yori Aishiteru," created with NOBODY.

DISC 3 brings together the Japanese groove anthem "Koi no Boogie Woogie Train," written by Minako Yoshida and composed and arranged by Tatsuro Yamashita, with the increasingly popular DJ favorite "Alone in the Dark."

DISC 4 features "Linda" and "One Sided Love," both written by Mariya Takeuchi.

Finally, DISC 5 pairs "Dream Boy" with "Dreams," the English-language version of "Yume de Aetara," both written by Eiichi Ohtaki and previously available only as a promotional single. All five 7-inch singles feature pairings being released for the first time. None of the singles will be available separately and can only be obtained as part of this box set.

The entire release is supervised by Ann Lewis herself. This special product is expected to be highly sought after, so advance reservations are recommended. Please note that pre-orders may close once the planned quantity has been reached.

DISC 1

Lyrics: Reiko Yukawa
Music: NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa, Toshio Kihara)
Arrangement: Ginji Ito
1984
Side B
01. Aa Mujou
Lyrics: Reiko Yukawa
Music: NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa, Toshio Kihara)
Arrangement: Jun Sato
1986
A pairing of two of the finest examples of Kayou Rock created by the golden combination of Reiko Yukawa and NOBODY, who contributed greatly to Ann Lewis's biggest hits.
"Roppongi Shinju," one of the songs most closely associated with Ann Lewis, is presented in the familiar version featuring the count-in. "Aa Mujou," which followed "Roppongi Shinju," further established the presence of Kayou Rock.
Both songs became long-running hits on cable radio and in karaoke, and versions featuring audience-style interjections also became widely familiar, helping establish them among her signature songs.
DISC 2
Side A
01. La Saison
Lyrics: Momoe Miura
Music: Kenji Sawada
Arrangement: Ginji Ito
1982
Side B
01. I Love You yori Aishiteru
Lyrics: Momoe Miura
Music: NOBODY (Yukio Aizawa, Toshio Kihara)
Arrangement: Shinji Nishi
1983
A powerful pairing of the hit songs "La Saison" and "I Love You yori Aishiteru," both featuring lyrics written by Momoe Miura, formerly Momoe Yamaguchi.
"La Saison" combines lyrics by the retired Momoe Yamaguchi with music by Kenji Sawada, a senior figure in Kayou Rock, creating a sound influenced by UK new wave and New Romantic styles. "I Love You yori Aishiteru," meanwhile, is a mid-tempo hit created by Momoe Miura and NOBODY.
Notably, Momoe Miura's songwriting credits include these two Ann Lewis songs, "CLUMSY BOY," which appeared on the B-side of "La Saison," and "Cinderella Liberty," which was provided to Rats & Star and composed by Ann Lewis, meaning that many of her songwriting works are connected to Ann Lewis.
The arrangement of "I Love You yori Aishiteru" was handled by Shinji Nishi, vocalist and guitarist of Spectrum.
DISC 3
Side A
01. Koi no Boogie Woogie Train
Lyrics: Minako Yoshida
Music & Arrangement: Tatsuro Yamashita
1979
Side B
01. Alone in the Dark
Lyrics & Music: Minako Yoshida
Arrangement: Tatsuro Yamashita
1979
The first-ever pairing of the disco anthem provided by Tatsuro Yamashita and Minako Yoshida with the DJ favorite "Alone in the Dark."
"Koi no Boogie Woogie Train" uses the Tatsuro Yamashita-mastered audio included on "THE WORKS OF TATSURO YAMASHITA Vol.1."
The song was also included on his 1989 live album "JOY" and on "JOY 2," scheduled for release this October, suggesting that it remains one of Yamashita's own favorites.
"Alone in the Dark" is a mid-tempo track written and composed by Minako Yoshida and included on the 1979 album "Pink Pussy Cat," produced by Tatsuro Yamashita. It was released as a vinyl single through HMV distribution in 2017 and sold out immediately, becoming highly popular among DJs.
DISC 4
Side A
01. Linda (English Version)
Lyrics & Music: Mariya Takeuchi
Arrangement: Bloodshot, Yoichi Taniguchi, Tatsuro Yamashita, Tadashige Matsui

01. One Sided Love (English Version)

The first pairing of "Linda," written by Mariya Takeuchi for Ann Lewis, with Ann's cover version of "Namida no One Sided Love," originally released by Takeuchi in 1979 and included on "UNIVERSITY STREET."
Both tracks were included on Ann Lewis's 1980 English-language cover album "Cheek."
Linda is Ann Lewis's middle name, and the song was written by Takeuchi as a gift for Ann's marriage. The recording session for the song is also remembered as having played a part in bringing Mariya Takeuchi and Tatsuro Yamashita together.
Takeuchi later recorded her own version of the song for her 1981 album "PORTRAIT." It was subsequently included on the 1994 best album "Impressions" and the 2008 best album "Expressions.”

1982
Promotional-only release reproduced for its first official commercial issue.
This Eiichi Ohtaki-penned single, previously released only as a promotional record, is receiving its first official commercial release.
"Yume de Aetara" was originally written for Ann Lewis. However, around the same time, Ohtaki was asked to provide a song for Minako Yoshida, and her version was released first in 1976.
The song was eventually recorded by Ann for her 1982 English-language cover album "Cheek II" and was issued as a promotional single under the English title "Dreams."
"Dream Boy" was created as an answer song to "Yume de Aetara." An instrumental version featuring Eiichi Ohtaki's own humming was also included on his 2020 album "Happy Ending," released in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his debut.
