Various Artists - Hi RECORDS HIGH-TIDE SELECTED BY D.J.BOBO JAMES A.K.A. D.L [CD] (Japanese import)

Format: CD

Label: Solid Records [4526180781684]

RELEASE DATE: December 11, 2026

Description:

There was an occasion when we revisited the many recordings left behind by Hi Records. D.L. spoke at length about his frustration that the unique brilliance of each track, in which the artists laid bare their spirits, could never be fully conveyed through the format of a mix CD. A mix CD, after all, is a drama crafted by a DJ over the course of more than 70 minutes. Even when he wanted to include a particular track, if it didn’t fit the script of that drama, he had no choice but to leave it out. D.L. had likely encountered many such tracks along the way.

This led to the idea of a best-of selection. Accordingly, this release primarily features tracks from "OLD GOLD" that D.L. wanted listeners to experience not just as part of a mix CD, but as individual songs in their own right. These are joined by a number of masterpieces worthy of being called D.L.-style Hi Records classics, which had been left out of the mix CD for relatively minor reasons.(Excerpted from the liner notes)

This reissue also includes newly added director’s notes by Hideo “JAM” Hosoda.
