Selected by Rolling Stone as one of Japan’s 25 "Future of Music" artists and attracting attention from critics both in Japan and abroad, Misaki Umei is one of the most promising artists of the next generation. Her 1st album "Asleep Above Creatures" is now finally being released on analog in a clear color vinyl edition via her own label .plum(es). A rich crystallization of sound born from a fresh curiosity that moves freely across the boundaries of classical, pop, electronic, and jazz. The album features 11 diverse tracks, ranging from piano solo pieces and trio performances to strings and tracks woven with electronic approaches. Including a collaboration with the brilliant contemporary Brazilian musician Antonio Loureiro, this is a work that stands out for its free sensibility, unconstrained by existing frameworks.
