Opis:
One of Japan's leading jazz drummers and composers, Shun Ishiwaka has built an extraordinary career not only in jazz, but also as a sought-after recording and touring musician for many of Japan's top artists, including Ringo Sheena, Gen Hoshino, Kenshi Yonezu, and Quruli. Alongside his work with projects such as Answer to Remember, SMTK, and CRCK/LCKS, the "Songbook Project" stands as his personal lifelong musical endeavor.
Marking the project's 10th anniversary, the original 2016 EP "Songbook"—the very starting point of the project—is being released on vinyl for the first time. Originally issued as a limited EP in December 2016, "Songbook" introduced Ishiwaka's pop-oriented songwriting project, featuring his own compositions and arrangements, with Ishiwaka performing not only drums but also piano and keyboards. The release was met with overwhelming demand, quickly selling out and requiring an additional pressing, establishing Ishiwaka's reputation not only as an exceptional drummer but also as a remarkable composer and musician.
The EP features an outstanding lineup of collaborators, including Manami Kakudo, known for her work with cero and for creating her own distinctive musical world through voice and percussion; multi-instrumentalist Ryo Konishi of CRCK/LCKS, who has also worked as a producer and performer with artists including Mrs. GREEN APPLE, TOMOO, King & Prince, and Millennium Parade; Tomomi Oda, who has supported artists such as UA and KIRINJI while also composing for visual works; vocalist Ame from Kemono; bassist Ryoji Orihara; and Sara Rector. These five beautifully crafted songs capture the delicate yet richly textured ensemble created through Ishiwaka's songwriting and the trusted musicians who brought it to life, now finally available on vinyl a decade after their original release.
