Description:

2026 has been a particularly busy year for Visions of Light, the Balearic/ambient/dub trio founded by Freebooter Records’ Simon Sheldon alongside Muzka and Dan Dub Lounge. Following the “Dedications” EP – their warmly received collection of Balearic dub reinterpretations of White Isle-friendly club classics – the trio return with ‘Mycelium Bloom’, the follow-up to their 2025 debut LP “The Mandela Vortex”. “Mycelium Bloom” sees Visions of Light expand their signature sound, blending downtempo dub grooves and sun-baked Balearic soundscapes with hallucinatory electronics and psychedelic touches. Layered guitars, deep bass, immersive textures, and dreamlike melodies run throughout an album designed for both sunset listening and deeper late-night excursions.

Opener “Split The Scene” sets the tone with acidic electronics circling languid beats, heavy bass and spacious pads, while “All The Best Things” taps into the spirit of early ’90s chill-out rooms, adding desert blues influences to its hazy, enveloping atmosphere. “Holding Jupiter” pushes further into psychedelic territory, built around low-tempo rhythmic drift, effects-laden guitars, and expansive chords. Elsewhere, the trio reconnects with their rootsier dub foundations. “B Town” delivers a warm, summery skank, while “Radiant Flux” shifts towards Balearic dub dancefloor territory. “Perfect You”, featuring words written and performed by Richard Dormer alongside flute from Luis Vilca, is a gorgeous sunset-ready highlight, while “Let Go” closes in on pure Balearic bliss through gentle melodies and slow-burning atmosphere.
