Youp van Het Hek wanted to become a comedian at the age of twelve. When he was seventeen he founded the cabaret ''Jester''. With that, he played in small halls for quite some time. From 1984 onwards, the theatres were full. Since 1986 he has been playing solo, and since 1987 he was a columnist for NRC Handelsblad. In 1989 he published his First New Year's Eve conference. He now has 27 programs and 10 New Year's Eve conferences. In 2024 he said goodbye to the theatre. A Lifetime Youp contains the best sketches from all conferences from 1982, including ''Borrow-Borrow-Pay-Pay'', ''Buckler'', ''Ikea Bunk Bed'' and ''Wine Tasting'' Side 4 consists of a selection of his most beautiful songs, including, ''No one knows what time it is'', ''Mr. Alzheimer's'', ''Who will be my Wagon Pushing'' and of course the classic ''Flappie''. As Youp calls it himself; ''A small selection from four decades sincere nonsense and heartfelt poetry''. The 2LP contains a 4-page booklet with song lyrics and liner notes by Youp.
