Here they admire a unique exhibition of which Cremona is justly proud and which exemplifies the history of the classical Cremonese art of making stringed instruments, from the work of Andrea Amati and various members of his family, through to the absolute perfection of Antonio Stradivarius and the Guarneri family. The Town’s collection of violins has now become the center of a new enterprise: their voices have been recorded on this SACD, rekindled by one of the greatest musicians of our time, Salvatore Accardo. Cremona is also celebrating its native son, Claudio Monteverdi, with a series of events, which have attracted admiration worldwide, from music experts and from simple music lovers. It is promoting itself as "City of Music": the time is right for this transformation of the Violin Room into a most unusual venue: no longer a dry and soulless museum but a brilliant witness to the city’s tradition and musical vocation.
