Description:
YAPOOL, a four-piece rock ’n’ roll band based in Tokyo that formed in November 2021, is releasing its long-awaited second album!
The album conveys a message about the things that haven’t changed at all, the things that have become distorted, and the desire to tear down what’s boring and rebuild it from scratch-all reflecting the band’s experience several years after moving to Tokyo and starting out.
Tokyo Scrap and Build
This is YAPOOL's total concept album.
What do they want to destroy?
The album begins with "Bukkuwase" (Smash It), which means "Smash Tokyo Tower, and everything." He says there are three things he wants to smash now. The first is old music and popular music. The second is YAPOOL himself up until now, and the third is Tokyo.
Destruction has long been a symbolic initial impulse in rock, especially punk. After several years of being in a band in Tokyo, the band members convey a message that some things remain unchanged, some have changed into distorted forms, and they want to smash them down and rebuild them because they're boring. While there are some medium-tempo songs among the intense numbers, the members say that it was just a coincidence and not something they particularly considered in terms of balance. The album also includes YAPOOL's first love song, and the ending, which differs in tone from the straightforward feel of their first album, concludes with "Tokyo Scrap and Build," a song in which titles of YAPOOL's past works are scattered throughout the lyrics, and they sing about wanting to smash them down.
It's an unprecedented concept album, yet it's the most cutting-edge concept album you'll ever hear.
