Soul Quest Records opens a new chapter with “Re:Quest Vol.1”, the first installment in a new remix series dedicated to revisiting, reimagining and breathing fresh life into music from the label’s growing back catalog. True to Soul Quest’s ethos of deep, soulful and jazz-tinged sounds, “Re:Quest” brings together four new interpretations from a diverse cast of producers, each offering their own perspective while retaining the spirit of the original recordings.

Opening the release, Kai Alcé steps up with his vocal mix of Slxm Sol’s “Simple Love” featuring Laville & BB James. Following his dub of the track on Slxm Sol’s “Simple Soul” EP, Alcé returns to the record with a deeper, vocal-led treatment that places the song firmly in his soulful house tradition. On A2, London-based producer Last Nubian takes on Sean Green’s “Really Love” featuring Will Heard, delivering a deep, afro-tinged, spiritual interpretation with additional piano keys.

The B-side begins with Wez Whynt’s remix of KingCrowney & Zoe Kypri’s “Coat On”. Blending house and broken beat, Whynt builds the track around lush keys and a spacious groove, allowing Zoe Kypri’s rich, expressive vocals to remain at the heart of the arrangement.

Closing the release, Sean Green turns his attention to Max Sinàl’s “Healing” featuring Liv East, bringing his distinctive bruk-inflected production style to the track and rounding out a musically rich record that moves fluidly across house, broken beat and the signature soulful goodness that we come to expect from the label.

Founded in Hackney, London in 2023 by Max Sinàl, Slxm Sol, Leon Sweeney, and later joined by the mysterious Sean Green, Soul Quest Records has established itself around a shared love of deep soulful house, jazz, and community-driven collaboration. “Re:Quest Vol.1” extends that philosophy into the label’s archive, connecting its past releases with new interpretations from artists shaping the sound today.
